Winter is Coming (so is GoT)

Let’s talk about The Game of Thrones.

Last Friday, I frantically read the brief explanation of the plot through wiki, then went home and watched all the important scenes all to prep for Seasons 2 of Game of Thrones.

I should have seen this coming when my bf and I would hum the GoT theme song in harmony inside an empty mall. I’ve gone crazy at that point already. And since last night, I’m determined to make my own cape with fur (faux fur of course!) draped across the shoulder. Because thanks to my daily reminder, Winter is coming.

While I won’t dedicate a special post to my favourite character just yet (Jon Snow), let’s take a look at some of the looks on the recent runways that may be inspired by the show.

Capes

Capes are cool. Period.

Alexis Mabille Autumn/ Winter 2011/12

One thing is for sure, unless you’re from the Stark family, or a crime fighting vigilante , it’s really hard to wear this for work.

Fur

Ermenegildo Zegna Autumn/ Winter 2011/12

While some of us are not so keen to have an animal draped across our shoulders, GoT sure made it easy for me to change my mind.

Viktor & Rolf Autumn/ Winter 2011/12

While most of the costumes for the show is quite simple and plain, nothing is plain about the clothes of the Lannister family. Especially Cersei Lannister.  The decadence and luxury is shown in her clothes and attitude.

Leather

Givenchy Autumn/ Winter 2011/12

While leather is not often seen in the series, it is an intergral part of the costumes. Although you might not see loads of it, it’s actually what they wear underneath their armor.
